The Cause and Cure: gong yoo/yoon eun hye
“if he hurts you, i’ll marry you.”
all she could do was give him a disgusted face as her best friend grinned mischievously across the table. eun hye never thought of ji cheol that way, not even once since they met in college. he was the type of guy who wore high collared shirts with bow ties and shined his shoes every wednesday afternoon after work. he even counted how many times he chewed his food before he swallowed it. he was certainly not the type of guy she’d find herself marrying in the future.
“don’t be silly, ji cheol.”
“and why not?”
“you’re my best friend.”
“you don’t want to marry your best friend?”
eun hye sighed and continued to play with her food which she hadn’t really touched since they received it. marriage wasn’t exactly the subject she wanted to talk about. she had just finished venting to ji cheol about how her current boyfriend, eric, was acting weird lately. he wasn’t answering her phone calls or coming home for dinner. he even stopped saying ‘i love you’.
to ji cheol, it was obvious that eric was slowly breaking up with her. it always pained him to see his best friend hurt over and over again. he hated the days when she would come over to his apartment just to cry on his shoulder because of some guy. he couldn’t take it anymore. this was the last straw. he didn’t want to see her heart broken again.
“eun hye, i’m serious when i say that i’ll marry you.”
“ji cheol… ”
“i’m always going to be here. i always have and i always will.”
